We are parents building an app for families, and we want this to be easy to read. Here is what this website collects, why, and what you can do about it.
What this policy covers
This policy covers the rukalya.com website, including the feature suggestion form and the launch sign-up on it.
The Rukalya mobile app is different: it handles things like your account, your trips, photos and location. The app will have its own privacy policy explaining all of that in detail, published before the app is available on the App Store.
What we collect on this website
- If you send us a feature suggestion: your email address, your suggestion, and your name if you choose to give it (it is optional).
- If you ask us to tell you when the app launches: your email address, and the language you were reading the site in, so we can write to you in that language.
- Anonymous usage statistics through Google Analytics: things like which pages are visited, which language you view the site in, roughly where visitors are (country or city, not your exact location), what kind of device and browser you use, and simple interactions such as switching language or signing up for launch news. Google Analytics is always active on the site, but until you click Accept in the cookie banner it sets no cookies and only receives basic signals, like a page being viewed, that can't recognise you on a later visit.
- Basic technical information that any website receives, such as your IP address and browser type. Our servers use this briefly to keep the site working and secure.
That is it. We don't ask for anything else, and you don't need an account to use this website.
Why we collect it
- To read your feature suggestion and, if needed, reply to you about it.
- To send you one email when the app launches, if you asked us to. We won't use your address for anything else.
- To understand how people find and use the site, so we can make it better.
- To keep the website running safely, for example protecting the suggestion form from spam.
What we don't do
- We don't sell your information. Ever.
- We don't use it for advertising.
- We don't share it with anyone, except the services that help us run the site: our hosting provider, the service that delivers our email, and Google Analytics. They only get what they need to do that job.
How long we keep it
We keep feature suggestions for as long as they are useful for improving the app. You can ask us to delete yours at any time, and we will.
We keep launch sign-ups until we have told you the app is out. You can ask us to remove your email before then, at any time.
Google Analytics data is kept according to Google's retention settings, and the technical information our servers use is kept only for a short time.
Your rights
You can ask us what information we have about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Just email us at hello@rukalya.com and we will take care of it.
Cookies
We keep cookies to a minimum. This website uses:
- Google Analytics cookies, which help us count visits and understand how the site is used. They don't tell us who you are. We only set them if you click Accept in the cookie banner, and you can change your mind at any time with "Cookie settings" at the bottom of every page.
- Two small cookies that the site needs to work: one keeps your visit together while you are on the site, and one protects the suggestion form against a common kind of attack. They expire after about two hours.
- A language cookie, but only if you pick a language at the bottom of the page. It remembers your choice so the site opens in that language next time.
We remember your answer to the cookie banner in your browser's storage, so we don't ask on every page.
Nothing else. No advertising cookies and no tracking across other websites.
Children's privacy
Rukalya is built for families with young children, but this website is meant for the grown-ups. The website is not directed at children, and the information it collects (feature suggestions and usage statistics) is not meant to come from children. If you think a child has sent us their details, let us know and we will delete them.
Changes to this policy
As the website and the app grow, we may update this policy. When we do, we will change the "last updated" date at the top of this page.
